PROCESS:

• Financial Complexity TranslationWorking on the joint RBC and IBM wealth management product, I faced the challenge of translating highly complex financial operations into intuitive interfaces accessible to various user types. My approach began with extensive research to understand the nuanced needs of high-net-worth clients and the financial advisors serving them. I created detailed user personas representing both client-side users and internal operations teams to ensure the platform would serve all stakeholders effectively.
• Information Architecture DesignI designed the central dashboard and notification systems that became the heart of the platform, allowing teams to manage significant financial portfolios efficiently. This required creating information hierarchies that presented the most critical financial data prominently while making supplementary information accessible without causing cognitive overload. Using Figma, I developed wireframes that progressed from low to high fidelity through multiple stakeholder feedback sessions.
• Cross-Team CollaborationOne of the most challenging aspects was coordinating design decisions between RBC and IBM technical teams, each with their own priorities and technical constraints. I facilitated collaborative workshops to align different departments on user-centered design principles and establish shared success metrics. This diplomatic approach to design leadership ensured that financial expertise, security requirements, and user experience considerations were all appropriately balanced in the final product.
